New Year’s ANTI-Resolution

Last year, I decided to ditch the New Year’s Resolution and, instead, choose one word that will drive my year for 2014. It was no trouble for me to come up with the word pursue for my New Year’s word, and all in all, pursue did well for me. It led me to graduation, engagement, and discovering the career path that I will love. Sure, a few things fell off track, but for the most part, when I was faced with a tough decision, I met it with the idea of pursuing what was best for me.

This year, it was a bit tougher to choose a word. I don’t have any major milestones coming down the road in 2015, nor do I have any major obstacles I will be looking to overcome (that I know so far!). I struggled to come up with a word that will help me in my decisions, lead me down the right path, and keep me motivated.

In the end, I decided on Persist.

While persist is a bit like pursue, it is different in key ways.

Persist (pərˈsist/) v. continue firmly or obstinately in an opinion or a course of action in spite of difficulty, opposition, or failure.

I love this definition so much. Mainly, I hope to persist in any challenges I face. It’s easy to give up, to walk away, to quit, especially when opposition strikes. Persist will keep me focused on my goals, help me stay motivated, and guide me to a successful 2015.
